- These small tongs are exactly what I was looking for. We had some small tongs with plastic grippers that are supposed to be safe for non-stick pans, but they were too slippery and didn’t get a good grip, and on top of that the plastic started to fall apart. After watching a lot of cooking shows, we figured out we don’t need special tongs for nonstick pans… we aren’t scraping the pan with them, we are just picking up food with them, the bottom of the pan never is in contact with them at all. These are the perfect size for small things, like turning over shrimp, or removing them from the pan, they are easy to control and have nice serrations to get a good grip on whatever you are trying to pick up.I really want to like these but there are two quality issues I noticed right away. The most important one is that whatever the process is to make them look gold is missing on part of the black handled set. I did order a replacement which is very easy on Amazon. These appear to be electroplated to get the gold color, but I’m no expert, it seems like maybe these accidentally were up against something and so that area didn’t get plated? I don’t know, we’ll see how the replacements look and how long they last.The other issue doesn’t bother me so much, but it’s something I noticed, the rubber grips were not seated all the way on two of them. They were easy enough to just push right back in, and they probably popped out during shipping. Once pushed back in, they seem very secure and don’t feel like they will be falling out on their own.They do say dishwasher safe in the listing, and I normally wash things like this in the dishwasher, so we’ll see how the grips hold up over time.I’m giving these 4 stars for now because of these issues, which I think might end up being minor quality control issues, and they are really a great size and It’s something my wife and I will both use all the time, so we’ll see how the replacements look and how they hold up over time and I’ll revise my review accordingly.Edit: The replacements look great! I’m thinking it was probably just a manufacturing fluke on that one black set, and it’s so easy to get replacements on Amazon, that I don’t think it’s a big enough issue, so I’m bumping this up to 5 stars. I’ll see how long they last and if there’s any further issues, I’ll update my review again.
